Myrifield Institute for Cognition and the Arts promotes collaboration among researchers engaged in exploring the role of the arts in the development of human cognition. We invite inquiries from small groups of scholars and artists pursuing research in human cognition and the fine and performing arts -- literature, visual art, architecture, music, dance -- who seek a secluded setting for discussion of issues, problems, and future directions. We maintain a small research library of materials in cognitive sciences and the arts available to visiting scholars.

Myrifield lies within the area of "Perpetual Peace" (established by a treaty between the Mohawks and Penobscots that was ratified by the Colonial Court in 1744) and enjoys easy access to the Five College area and its ten collaborating museums, Mass MOCA (the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art) in North Adams and the Sterling and Francis Clark Art Institute and Williams College Museum of Art in Williamstown, all of which lie within 30 miles' distance. Other scenic, historic, and cultural venues abound in the local area. Many opportunities exist nearby for outdoor activities, such as hiking, skiing, whitewater rafting and canopy tours.
